What’s the point of walking through a Holy Door in this Year of Mercy? Don’t you have plenty of good doors of your own at home to walk through? This is a very powerful talk; inclusive; transforming; compassionate for students at a time of flux in politics and the impact it has on all our lives in the 21st Century. It is not easy being a student now and its not easy breaking down walls to other people during competitive courses and careers and I particularly liked the comparison of breaking of our hearts (in the dangerous zone) to be open to those around us and in need of God’s mercy and love and of our own mercy because if we cannot love ourselves we cannot help anyone else, as Oscar Wilde said: “And happy they whose hearts can break and peace of pardon win. How else may man make straight his plan and cleanse his soul from sin? How else but through a broken heart mayLord Christ enter in” – The gates in the Bible and heavenly gates in Revelation being never closed.

The Light and the Mercy of God can enter us through the cracks.
