What are the Foyers?
The Foyers de Charité are Roman Catholic communities which have been formally recognised by Rome since 1986. Within them, lay men and women, led by a priest, live a common life, sharing all their gifts and resources. Their principal mission is the giving of retreats, to form the whole People of God for evangelisation.
What does this retreat involve?
The retreat will be preached by Fr Thomas Dubois from Nailsea and Portishead in the Diocese of Clifton. It is called a ‘fundamental retreat’ because it surveys all the fundamental points of our Catholic faith.
Member of the Foyers from France will be coming to help with the retreat. They will all look after the retreatants and pray for them. There is also an opportunity to meet them one to one. Their work and life style witness in action to what the retreat is preaching in words.
The retreat will begin on Monday 21 July with dinner at 7.30 pm and end on Sunday 27 July at 2 pm. Like all Foyer de Charité retreats, it will be in total silence with three talks each day, and worship with the community.Where and what is Micklepage?
An old farmhouse and barn with a unique barn-chapel and grounds in the heart of the Sussex countryside amid a wonderful network of rural footpaths.
How much does it cost?
The retreat is by donation only. If you can afford it, the suggested
donation is £125 for the week. If you can’t, just give what you can
afford.What is the accommodation like?
The farmhouse and barn are beautiful old buildings with plenty
of character. The accommodation is basic but comfortable.
Depending on numbers, we may need to ask some people to share
rooms. If you would strongly prefer a single room, please indicate
this on the booking form. If you have someone you would like to
share with, please also indicate this.What do I need to bring?
Sheets, pillowcase, towels, soap, etc. A Bible, rosary and notepad.
