We are delighted to announce Ten Ten’s latest production at The Tristan Bates Theatre in Covent Garden on Saturday 26 April.

Babies and Chased are two short plays which explore the lives of teenagers as they discover new relationships and are challenged to make choices which defy pressure, culture and the urge to conform.  This performance is suitable for adults and young people aged 14+.  It may be of particular interest to Church youth and post-Confirmation groups.  Tickets are priced at £10.

We want as many young people to see this production as possible.  If someone you know would like to see the production but can’t pay the entrance fee, we may be able to provide a bursary.  If this would help you, please contact us.

The Tristan Bates is an intimate studio theatre in the heart of Covent Garden.  Space is limited – so please book early.

Thanks and I hope to see you in Covent Garden on 26th April.

BABIES

“What are you going to do? Your mother and I…we can’t look after it. We’re getting too old for that. And you’ve got so much ahead of you. So much. Your life is going to have to end because…because you’ll have a kid.”

Annie is 17. She has the world at her feet. Then she discovers that she is unexpectedly pregnant.  Joe is 18. He says he’ll support Annie, whatever she decides to do. But what does he mean by that? As Annie and Joe face their parents with the situation, they receive unexpected reactions, changing their lives and view of the world forever.

CHASED

“What’s the word I’m looking for? I want to feel…I don’t know…I want to feel…I want to feel cherished.”

Scott daubs “SCOTT AND CARLY 4EVER” on a bus shelter. Carly tells Scott that she loves him.  Scott suggests to Carly that they take their relationship to “the next level”.  Carly, however, is reluctant. She knows deep down that she wants something different, but can’t quite put it into words.

About the Author ()

Martin O'Brien is the founder and Artistic Director of Ten Ten Theatre. Starting his working life as a professional actor, Martin performed in the West End (Blood Brothers) and at the National Theatre (twice) as well as appearing in many TV dramas throughout the 1990’s. He then developed a second career as a writer, winning the BBC Northern Exposure Award for his play “On Eagles Wings” and writing for the BBC One drama “Doctors” and numerous radio plays. He founded Ten Ten Theatre – a professional theatre company with an underlying Christian ethos rooted in the Catholic tradition - with his sister Clare in 2007. Since that time, Ten Ten has developed a wide-ranging programme in drama-based Relationship Education in primary schools, secondary schools and parishes, currently working with over 80,000 children and young people every year. The company has also won awards for its work with young offender institutions and has more recently moved into mainstream theatre productions, starting with the sell-out production of “Kolbe’s Gift” at the off-West End venue, The Leicester Square Theatre, in October 2013. When not working, Martin tries (and sometimes, just sometimes, succeeds) to beat his 12-year-old nephew on Fifa… www.tententheatre.co.uk
