wellSeeking a gap year experience? Interested in living with other young Catholics in community? Wanting to grow in your faith? Keen to discover and deepen prayer? Seeking opportunities for service and mission?

The Wellspring Community has a house of prayer, formation and mission in Brighton which young adults are able to join for one year or more. Living a community life offers a young adult a space in which to be more fully formed in their faith, to enter deeper into prayer, and to discern Christ’s call, as well as providing many dynamic opportunities for mission and service.

Members of the house receive formation in the Benedictine tradition, the Catholic faith and vocation, and have opportunities for retreat and spiritual accompaniment. They usually seek some part-time work in the local area (and/or alternative forms of funding) in order to cover the expenses of living simply in community.

They are then also available to work part-time with The Wellspring Community in projects such as community building with young adults in the local Church, youth work and children’s work, Sacramental programmes, homeless shelter volunteering, adult formation, music ministry, talk-giving, retreats work, conference/seminar/study days, outreach events, and hospitality.

Brighton is a lively city to live in, with many needs and opportunities to share the Gospel message with others. The Wellspring Community seeks to be a living witness to life in the Risen Christ in the heart of the city, drawing people into encounter with Him. The Community is based in the parish of St Joseph and St Francis, a dynamic parish seeking to respond to Pope Francis’ call for us to be a “completely mission-oriented” Church.
