A weekend for young Catholic nurses and doctors to reflect on issues of healthcare and faith

Are you a Catholic nurse or doctor in your 20s or 30s? Would you like to share ideas about living your faith at work, in the context of prayer and friendship? Then join the Hope in Health weekend at Boarbank.

Date: 28th-30th November (1st December) 2014

Venue: Boarbank Hall, Cumbria

Theme: Communication

Topics: faith and professionalism in discussion with patients; listening to patients; telling the truth at work; the Word of God.

Prices (includes full board): Twin en suite £100; Single £110; Single en suite £120; Students £80. If you have particular financial needs, please ask about possible reductions.

Supplement for staying until Monday morning: £40 (students £20).

Contributors

Dr Karen Groves is a palliative care consultant from Southport who is experienced in teaching healthcare professionals to communicate well about spiritual care and care at the end of life.

Dr Chris Harrison is a GP in Manchester, who also lectures in and researches on medical education.

Fr Dixie Taylor is a Salford diocesan priest, who has taught Scripture and theology in many countries, and is resident at Boarbank Hall.

Sr Margaret Atkins is an Augustinian Sister of the Boarbank Community, and a former university lecturer and regular writer with a special interest in ethics.

Would you like this chance to be part of our group of young Catholic doctors and nurses? You will be joined on the weekend by two or three more senior Catholic medics, who can share their experience, along with some of the resident Boarbank Sisters and an experienced hospital chaplain. We hope that this group might provide the basis of a network of mutual support for younger Catholics in healthcare to help sustain them in living their faith at work.
